Drumming | Stop Motion Animation

The idea behind this project was to experiment with music and visual and playing with the time. Taking inspiration from The White Strips I created a stop-motion animation. This Ident Project took a lot of planning before hand and hence was easier to record. It was a challenge for me to compile all the footage but with the right guidance and having a system in place turned out to be a delightful journey, profoundly amplifying my understanding of stop motion animation.

The guitar melody is sampled from a track by Sonya, I recorded myself playing the drums and produced and mastered the track on Fruity Loops.

An alternate version (portrait) is uploaded on Tushar's Youtube and Instagram.

Here are a few clips from the end product.

who is Tush Perc?

He is an animated drummer jams on a rooftop everyday to break away...

In the bygone era where analog video recordings ruled the world, an animated drummer emerges, Percy, who possesses the uncanny ability to control his drum kit as an extension of his own being. This open world was only 24 frames per second.

From dawn till dusk, he sat on his rooftop, playing the drums, trying to warp through space and time. The effects of his beats were so strong that it shook his house, sometimes creating crack in the sky. He kept breaking rules and now has only one life left.

As the moon rose, he found a bug in this open world! The bug he figured out was that Percy's world has the same amount of time as its creators with only difference of a higher frame rate, regardless of these boundaries, he seemingly became faster and starts to warp time. He starts drumming now at night.

His drumming grew more intricate, he tried different rudiments and a bunch of time signatures and tempos, coming to a point where he drew their attention. It came to a point where this open world game, which he thought was real, started to intertwined both the actual real world and his open world!

Now, as he confronts the ability to see through multiverse simulations, he weaves a new time signature that echoed, breaking his world and creating a path to his creators. He casted a way out, only to realise how small the real world is and that this world had all their attention towards Tush Perc (as seen on the snare drum)

He left behind a legacy of enigmatic beats that the people still continue to cherish in his memory. But only he knew what lies in the fissures of his world...
